The photographer is in the Royal Marines' mess between 50 and 56 stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking to port from the starboard side at 54¾ station showing kit lockers with suitcase racks, greatcoat lockers and a noticeboard. Beyond the noticeboard is the start of the seamen's mess which has Christmas decorations under the deckhead. A vertical format negative.
