On board the Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) in No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard during her 1971-1974 modernisation. The photographer is in the seamen's mess between 67 and 73 stations on 3 deck looking forward from the midline showing a triple tier bunk unit and kit lockers with suitcase racks on the left. A tea cupboard is in the right foreground with an aluminium teapot, a large aluminium jug and wire baskets containing stacks of cups on the top of it and washing up cloths hanging over it. A mirror, a letter rack and coat hooks are on the backs of kit and greatcoat lockers. Triple tier bunks are on the extreme right. A scuttle down to the plummer block compartment is in the centre of the deck.
