On board the Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) in No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard during her 1971-1974 modernisation. The photographer is in the seamen's mess between 67 and 73 stations on 3 deck looking aft on the port side showing a triple tier bunk unit on the right. A settee bench is along the aft and starboard bulkheads and a bookshelf is above it on the starboard side. A folding table, a plastic chair and a spittoon are in the centre. A shelf, an automatic emergency lantern, a clock reading 09.44 and a mirror are against the aft bulkhead.
