On board the Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) berthed on the south side of No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard. The photographer is in the enclosed bridge between 40 and 43½ stations on 01 deck looking forward and slightly to port on the centreline showing the pelorus in the centre of the forward extension. Against the forward screen on the port side are a box for the navigator's binoculars, a telephone, the asdic type 177 unit, the asdic type 170 attacker unit, more telephones, a machinery stateboard. a wind speed anddirection indicator and various junction and terminal boxes.
