On board the Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) berthed on the south side of No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard. The photographer is in the passageway between 64 and 67 stations on the port side of 2 deck looking to starboard and forward from 65 station showing the open airtight door to the engine room. A rating is by a fire hose trailing through the door. On the right are stairs leading up to 1 deck and against the starboard bulkhead are a fire main and an automatic emergency lantern.
