On board the Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) berthed on the south side of No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard. The photographer is in the operations room between 42 and 45½ stations on 1 deck looking to port and forward from 43½ station showing the T.I.U. (target indicating unit) Mk.5 console on the right. A man in a Royal Marine uniform but with straggly hair under his cap is standing in front of the console and is wearing headphones. Against the port bulkhead are the radio state board, a junction box and a CO² fire extinguisher. The door to the lobby is open and the door to the ventilation cooler space on the port side of the lobby is also open. The motor in the ventilation cooler space has the hand crank fitted. A vertical format negative.
