On board the Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) alongside the south side of No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard. The photographer is on the port side of the quarterdeck looking aft from 83 station. The deck is very wet and the number of puddles show how dished the deck plating is. She is berthed starboard side to the quay and a Leander class frigate is astern of her. The Leander class ship has scaffolding on her forecastle and a floating trestle alongside her bow. The heavy repair ship Triumph (1944) is berthed on the north side of the basin and six frigates are berthed on the north side of No. 2 basin in the background.
