On board the Type 14 utility frigate Duncan (1957) alongside the fitting out berth in the shipyard of John I Thornycroft & Co Ltd on the River Itchen at Woolston, Southampton. The photographer is looking aft from 24 station on the starboard side of 01 deck showing the single 40 mm 60 calibre bofors anti-aircraft gun mounting. Against the guard rails are two 40 mm ready use ammunition lockers. The signal flag locker is against the aft guard rails. Against the gun crew's shelter under the projecting air lookout sight is an helmet locker and a covered cable reel and a rag tank is abaft the second vertical ladder.
