On board the Type 14 utility frigate Duncan (1957) alongside the fitting out berth in the shipyard of John I Thornycroft & Co Ltd on the River Itchen at Woolston, Southampton. The photographer is on the port side of 2 deck looking forward from 40 station showing the twin trainable 21 inch anti-submarine torpedo tube mounting in the left foreground. The 25 feet motor cutter is in its davits between 30 and 36 stations. Cut into the transom of the cutter is 56101 ↑ 26 ft. In the background at 01 deck level is the back of the signal flag locker and the single 40 mm bofors gun. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. A vertical format negative.
