A port side midship detail view of the Type 14 utility frigate Duncan (1957) alongside the fitting out berth in the shipyard of John I Thornycroft & Co Ltd on the River Itchen at Woolston, Southampton. The photographer is on the quayside abreast the funnel looking to starboard and forward showing the upperworks from the funnel forward to the front of the bridge at 18 station, including the foremast, the single 40 mm bofors gun under a canvas cover and a covered liferaft stowage. The funnel has a black top indicating the ship's position as leader of the Fishery Protection Squadron. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. A vertical format negative.
