The Type 12 frigate Rhyl (1959) in No. 8 dry dock in Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth. The ship was in the dock from 5 August to 7 September 1971. The photographer is on the floor of the dock looking to starboard and aft from ahead of the bow showing the port side of the ship. Divers' search lines have been painted on the hull and 'C' sentries have been fitted to the bilge keel. A name and description board and a scale stick are propped up on the keel blocks at the stem.
