The County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer is high up a crane alongside the berth looking to starboard, aft and down on the deck between 110 and 170 stations showing the aft funnel to the flight deck. The Westland Wessex HAS.1 helicopter XP156 (902/HA) (1962) is on the flight deck. On the opposite side of the fitting out basin is the Cunard ship Franconia (1955), ex Ivernia, being converted to a combined cruise ship and transatlantic liner.
