The County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer is on a crane alongside the berth looking to starboard, aft and slightly down between 95 and 120 stations showing the mainmast carrying the type 278 radar dish, a port motor launch and the after funnel. The top of the mainmast is out of the picture. On the opposite side of the fitting out basin is the Cunard ship Franconia (1955), ex Ivernia, being converted to a combined cruise ship and transatlantic liner.
