The County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer is on a crane alongside the berth looking to starboard and aft between 70 and 120 stations showing the forefunnel, mainmast and after funnel. The mainmast has a type 278 radar dish on the aft facing projecting platform and an AKE1 bedstead aerial for the type 965 radar at the top. On the opposite side of the fitting out basin is the Cunard ship Franconia (1955), ex Ivernia, being converted to a combined cruise ship and transatlantic liner.
