The County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer is on a raised position on the quayside abreast 112 station looking to starboard and slightly forward showing the two 25 feet motor cutters in their davits with the base of the mainmast beyond them. A covered liferaft is at the deck edge between the davits. The Cunard vessel Franconia (1955), ex Ivernia, is on the opposite side of the basin converting to a dual purpose transatlantic liner and cruise ship.
