The County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer is on a raised position on the quayside abreast 118 station looking to starboard and forward showing the aft 25 feet motor cutter in its davits and three covered liferafts are at the deck edge. The base of the mainmast is on the left and the after funnel is on the right. The Cunard vessel Franconia (1955), ex Ivernia, is on the opposite side of the basin converting to a dual purpose transatlantic liner and cruise ship.
