The County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer has been lowered from a crane to a position just off the starboard side of the ship abaft the mainmast at 03 deck level. He is looking aft and to port showing the Type 901 radar director at 02 deck level and the Westland Wessex HAS.1 helicopter XP156 (1962) 902/HA on the flight deck. The forward part of the helicopter is covered by a canvas sheet. The stern of the BP tanker British Mariner (1963), yard number 715, can be seen on the slip in the right background.
