The County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer has been lowered from a crane to a position just off the starboard side of the ship ahead of the mainmast at 03 deck level. He is looking aft and to port showing the starboard side of the mainmast, the two starboard 25 feet motor cutters, the after funnel and the starboard Mk 21 close range blind fire director. A number of covered liferafts can be seen on the superstructure at 02 deck level. Shipyard men are working on a structure on the quayside and the stern of the BP tanker British Mariner (1963), yard number 715, can be seen on the slip in the right background.
