The County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer has been lowered from a crane to a position just off the starboard side of the ship abreast the forefunnel at 03 deck level. He is looking aft and to port showing the mainmast, the two starboard 25 feet motor cutters, the after funnel, the starboard Mk 21 close range blind fire director and the type 901 radar director. Part of the Seaslug launcher on the quarterdeck can be seen on the left. The type 965 AKE1 bedstead aerial is at the top of the mainmast. Shipyard men are working on a structure on the quayside and the stern of the BP tanker British Mariner (1963), yard number 715, can be seen on Berth 4 in the right background.
