The County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer has been lowered from a crane to a position just off the starboard side of the ship abreast 'B' 4.5 inch gun turret at 03 deck level. He is looking aft and to port showing the command platform, starboard bridge wing, MRS3 director, lower foremast, forefunnel, mainmast, the 27 feet motor whaler and the after funnel. The accommodation ladder is fixed to the guardrails and an awning has been rigged over 01 deck between 58 and 84 stations. The top of the AKE1 bedstead aerial on the mainmast is just out of the picture. The stern of the tanker British Mariner (1963) is on Berth 4 in the left background.
