A distant port near broadside view of the Cunard Line cruise ship Franconia (1923) anchored in the Humber River at Corner Brook in the Bay of Islands, Newfoundland.
A distant port near broadside view, taken from only just ahead of the beam, of the Cunard Line cruise ship Franconia (1923) anchored in the Humber River at Corner Brook in the Bay of Islands, Newfoundland. She is in all-white livery, has her starboard anchor deployed and has an accommodation ladder rigged to her shell doors amidships. On the left is the forepart of the passenger-cargo steamer New Northland (1926), moored alongside a quay. She is flying the Blue Peter from the starboard yardarm of her foremast. Refrigerator railway boxcars are alongside a shed in the right foreground and beyond it is the landing stage which has a large crowd of people on it. A large notice board is on the landing stage and most of the wording is illegible but in the centre is the phrase 'Bread & Butter'.
