On board the County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The photographer is in one of three petty officer's messes forward on 1 deck: a mess for 21 men between 50 and 58 stations on the starboard side, a mess for 33 men between 58 and 71 stations on the port side and a mess for 33 men between 58 and 72 stations on the starboard side. Five easy chairs are facing an electric fire which has a drinks unit next to it. A leaf patterned screen and a triple tier bunk unit numbered 1, 2 and 3 are against an inboard bulkhead which also has a door in it. The backs of some kit lockers and another triple tier bunk unit are on the left. The same image as negative number N18014.
