On board the County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The photographer is in the crew's mess between 45 and 58 stations on 2 deck looking to port from 46 station showing the open door leading forward with an automatic emergency lantern on one side of it and a large emergency change over switch connection box on the other side. A number of kit lockers are against the forward bulkhead and a whereabouts diagram for sectiions 45 - 58 is fixed to the end of them. An ammunition hoist is on the left and a Nu-Swift fire extinguisher and four spare cartridges are fixed to the back of a kit locker. A cable hanger is against the ship's side.
