On board the County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The photographer is in the crew's mess 3E between 45 and 58 stations on 3 deck looking aft on the port side showing curtained greatcoat lockers and triple tier bunk units on the port side and a back-to-back row of triple tier bunk units on the left. Tables and chairs are in the centre of the mess and a cupboard is against the aft bulkhead. An open hatch leading down to 4 deck is next to the aft bulkhead on the left.
