On board the County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The photographer is in the engineer's fitting shop between 78 and 84 stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking aft showing workbenches against the starboard and aft bulkheads. Both benches are equipped with Fortis F4 vices. An automatic emergency lantern is alongside the door in the port bulkhead. Duckboards are on the deck. The wire mesh door to the engineer's fitting shop is in the starboard aft corner. The same image as negative number N38675. On Admiralty plans (see negatives numbers N17738 and N17792) the two spaces between 78 and 84 stations on the starboard side of 3 deck are shown as the common machine shop inboard with the engineer's fitting shop outboard but the builders have fitted out the inboard space as the engineer's fitting shop and the outboard space as the common machine shop.
