On board the County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The photographer is in the common machine shop between 78 and 84 stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking forward and to starboard showing the universal machine manufactured by Adcock & Shipley Ltd of Leicester. The wire mesh forward bulkhead separates the electrical fitting shop from this space. The same image as negative number N38677. On Admiralty plans (see negatives numbers N17738 and N17792) the two spaces between 78 and 84 stations on the starboard side of 3 deck are shown as the common machine shop inboard with the engineer's fitting shop outboard but the builders have fitted out the inboard space as the engineer's fitting shop and the outboard space as the common machine shop.
