On board the County class guided missile destroyer London (1961) alongside the fitting out berth at the Neptune Works of Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd at Wallsend-on-Tyne. The ship is moored starboard side to the berth. The photographer is standing on 02 deck at 135 station looking forward showing the after funnel and the mainmast. The gas turbine air supply vents are in the rear of the after funnel. The dish aerial of the Type 278M height finding radar is fixed to the back of the mainmast and the single bedstead AKE1 aerial of the Type 965 early warning radar is at the top of the mast. The two close range blind fire directors are on either side of 01 deck with their canvas covered tops projecting above 02 deck.
