On board the County class guided missile destroyer London (1961) alongside the fitting out berth at the Neptune Works of Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd at Wallsend-on-Tyne. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the enclosed bridge between 50 and 57 stations on 02 deck looking forward and slightly to port on the port side showing the stairs up to the command platform on the extreme right. Against the command platform base are an electric fire and a communications desk equipped with three telephone handsets and a telephone control box. Against the forward screen are a depth, roll and speed unit, a range and bearing repeater, a bearing repeater, a present range receiver, weapons systems push buttons, two telephones, two microphones and two window wiper control units. Against the port screen are a desk, a siren control panel, a signalling key for masthead flashing lanterns, a microphone and a window wiper control unit.
