On board the County class guided missile destroyer London (1961) alongside the fitting out berth at the Neptune Works of Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd at Wallsend-on-Tyne. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the enclosed bridge between 50 and 57 stations on 02 deck looking forward and to starboard on the starboard side showing a voice control communications desk on the left. Against the forward screen are a window wiper control unit, a safe and a communications desk equipped with an amplifier, a telephone and a supply and transmit unit. In the corner are a switch control unit and a noticeboard. Against the starboard screen are two communications desks, each equipped with a morse key, a microphone and an intercom control unit. A switch and loudspeaker selecting box, a signalling key for masthead flashing lanterns and a window wiper control unit are above the desks. An emergency first aid box is by the side of the open bridge wing door.
