The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the captain's day cabin and dining room between 64 and 68 stations on the port side of 01 deck looking to port and slightly aft showing an electric fire, a settee, a table and seven chairs and a chest of drawers. The bow of the train ferry Cambridge Ferry (1963) can be seen through the cabin window alongside the fitting out berth of R & W Hawthorn Leslie (Shipbuilders) Ltd.
