The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the Petty Officers mess between 50 and 58 stations on the starboard side of 1 deck looking aft showing the recreation area. Against the bulkhead are an electric fire with a cupboard and shelf unit on either side of it, a drinks cabinet, a pigeon hole rack, a clock reading 04.15, a sink unit, a hot water urn and a locker. Against the inboard bulkhead are a kit locker, a folding table stowage area and a triple tier bunk unit. Three tubular steel armchairs and two other chairs are spaced in front of the fire.
