The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the petty officers mess between 58 and 71 stations on the port side of 1 deck looking aft. An electric fire, a pigeon hole rack, a clock reading 12.43 and a folding table stowage are against the end bulkhead and four tubular steel armchairs are in front of the fire. Triple tier bunk units are on either side of the mess and kit lockers are on the right.
