The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the ABCD headquarters between 53½ and 56 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking to port from the doorway showing a desk and two chairs against the inboard bulkhead. Six of the drawers in the desk are labelled as important key drawers. Above the desk is a plan titled 'HMS London - Incident Board' giving a diagrammatic view of each deck and each compartment has its alpha/numeric identity noted. Against the aft bulkhead are the ship's general telephone control box and a plan titled 'ABCD Door and Hatch Board'.
