On board the County class guided missile destroyer London (1961) alongside the fitting out berth at the Neptune Works of Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd at Wallsend-on-Tyne. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the passage between 72 and 84 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft. On the right is the door to the master-at-arms cabin. Against the ship's side are an emergency connection box, three canvas covered cable stowage brackets and a fire hose basket. An automatic emergency lantern is next to the closed watertight door at 84 station.
