On board the County class guided missile destroyer London (1961) alongside the fitting out berth at the Neptune Works of Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd at Wallsend-on-Tyne. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the lobby between 97 and 100 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking to port showing the open hatch leading down to the steam turbine main control room on 3 deck and stairs leading up to the canteen square on 1 deck. A Pyrene mechanical foam installation with two drums of foam liquid and two fire hose baskets are against the forward bulkhead. In the starboard bulkhead is an arched opening labelled 'Seaslug crated stowage' and an Assembly panel is beyond the opening. A transformer, an emergency change over switch box and a fuse panel are against the aft bulkhead.
