The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the telephone exchange between 112 and 114 stations on the port side of 2 deck. The telephone operator's switchboard is against the end bulkhead and a clock reading 03.36 is above the switchboard. The automatic telephone exchange is manufactured by the General Electric Co Ltd and is in two sections, unit 1 being for lines 200-249 and unit 2 being for lines 250-299. In the background is the 100 line automatic telephone exchange fuse distribution panel manufactured by Aish & Co Ltd of Poole. A vertical format negative with a slight tear at the bottom left.
