On board the County class guided missile destroyer London (1961) alongside the fitting out berth at the Neptune Works of Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd at Wallsend-on-Tyne. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in an unidentified Seaslug missile working area on 2 deck (2J0) and the space has been given the photographer's identifying number 52. The space is long with a plated walkway between two lines of upright angle steel supports holding a single horizontal circular rod. Projecting up from the deck are rows of pipes, each with three capped ends. Guide rails are under the deckhead at one end and in the foreground under the deckhead are two sets of traversing chains.
