The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the crew's mess between 45 and 58 stations on 3 deck looking forward from just to starboard of the centreline showing triple tier bunk units round the open recreation space. Folding table stowages and mirrors are fitted on the ends of rows of kit lockers. An ammunition hoist is to the right of centre with kit lockers beyond it. Against these kit lockers are a storage box for 2 Oldham lamps and a rack for four Nu-Swift fire extinguisher cartridges. Stairs lead up to 2 deck and a hatch next to the forward bulkhead leads down to 4 deck.
