On board the County class guided missile destroyer London (1961) alongside the fitting out berth at the Neptune Works of Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd at Wallsend-on-Tyne. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the gas turbine engine room between 114 and 128 stations on 3 and 4 decks looking at a control platform, presumably for the port gas turbine engine. The left hand panel includes a starting sequence wheel, pressure gauges, temperature gauges, and H.P. and L.P. shaft speed indicators. The panel on the right is part of the Telektron console for the port local control unit and includes an engine order receiver, a main shaft revolution counter and various pressure, temperature and r.p.m. gauges. A clock is reading 10.47.
