The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the refrigerating machinery space between 128 and 136 stations on the port side of 3 deck looking aft and to port showing No. 1 machine in the right foreground with No. 2 machine in the centre. Both machines were manufactured by J E Hall Ltd of Dartford. A watchkeeper's desk is alongside some racks containing numbered boxes of spare parts. Against the aft bulkhead are a vertical steel ladder and an automatic emergency lantern.
