The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the gyro stabiliser compartment between 136 and 140 stations to port of the centreline on 3 deck showing two vertical stabiliser units in the foreground with the two horizontal stabiliser units beyond them, manufactured by Ferranti Ltd and designated G.S. Type 8 Mod. 1. In the centre is a Taylor-Hobson micro-alignment telescope.
