The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the steering gear compartment (tiller flat) between 192 and 197 stations on 3 deck looking to starboard from 192½ station showing the port steering motor automatic change over switch cabinet against the forward bulkhead in the foreground. The rudder heads linkage is between the forward bulkhead and the steering engines. The steering gear is manufactured by Hastie & Co Ltd of Greenock. A vertical format negative.
