On board the County class guided missile destroyer London (1961) alongside the fitting out berth at the Neptune Works of Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd at Wallsend-on-Tyne. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is said to be in the steam turbine room between 90 and 106 stations on 3 deck but the photograph shows a platform facing a number of transmitter boxes by Bailey Meters and a large number of circular gauges all relating to the boilers. Plaques above some of the gauges refer to steam drum port and steam drum starboard, superheater outlets, F.F.O. (furnace fuel oil) supply manifolds, supply pump, service pump, exhaust, nozzle box, lub. oil, main F.F.O. heaters and main boiler steam pressures.
