The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the fuel working position between 78 and 84 stations on the starboard side of 5 deck looking to starboard and aft showing a Gilkes of Kendal F.F.O. (furnace fuel oil) pump. Above the pump are a number of spanners and three circular gauges are next to it. A near vertical steel ladder leads up to 4 deck and behind the ladder is a vertical centrifugal pump.
