On board the County class guided missile destroyer London (1961) alongside the fitting out berth at the Neptune Works of Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd at Wallsend-on-Tyne. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in an unknown cabin, possibly on the starboard side between 58 and 72 stations. The cabin is sparsely furnished with a tubular steel chair in front of a desk unit which has two large drawers, two small drawers and a fold down writing top with a combination safe at the back of it. Above the desk is a bunk bed. On the left is a full height wardrobe or cupboard. Two large valves are just above deck level under the bunk to the right of the desk. A telephone is against the right bulkhead. Chilled fresh water pipes are under the deckhead and alongside the right bulkhead and a stopcock at the bottom of one of the pipes is labelled 'C.F.W. pressure tk. No. 9 A.T.U.'. The ventilation trunking is labelled 3F19.
