A port near broadside view of the Swedish cruise ship Gripsholm (1925) anchored in the River Amazon at the Ilha Jararaca near Belem, Brazil.
A port near broadside view, taken from only just ahead of the beam, of the Swedish cruise ship Gripsholm (1925) anchored in the River Amazon at the Ilha Jararaca near Belem, Brazil. She is in all-white livery, her promenade deck has been plated in and she has an accommodation ladder rigged to a shell door under the bridge. The photographer is on shore and a palm frond roofed building is on the right, obscuring the stern of the ship. The settlement is variously recorded as Jaracaras and Jararacas and this negative bears the penned caption "Jararacas".
