A distant port bow view, taken from wide off the bow, of the Swedish cruise ship Gripsholm (1925) under way in the River Amazon at the Ilha Jararaca near Belem, Brazil. She is in all-white livery, her promenade deck has been plated in and she has an accommodation ladder rigged to a shell door under the bridge but not fully lowered. Her starboard anchor is housed and her port anchor is suspended below the hawse, ready for dropping. Two of her boats are missing from their davits. The photographer is on shore looking across vegetation with a tree on the left. The settlement is variously recorded as Jaracaras and Jararacas and this negative bears the penned caption "Jararacas Amazon". A vertical format negative.
