On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the passageway at 23 station on 2 deck looking aft and to starboard showing the gun bay on the left. The open hatch leading down to 3 deck and the stairs leading up to 1 deck are in the lobby. An automatic emergency lantern and a fuse panel are against the forward bulkhead of the transmitting station. A vertical format negative.
