On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the passageway at 26-30½ stations on 2 deck looking aft and slightly to starboard showing the open door to the transmitting station on the left. An Articles of War notice is on the door. A smoke mask cupboard with hose wound round it and a fire hose basket are against the starboard bulkhead and the door the transmitting station cooling compartment is beyond. The watertight door at 30½ station is closed. A vertical format negative.
