On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the passageway at 16-18 stations on 2 deck looking forward, slightly to starboard and up showing the deckhead above the closed watertight door at 16 station. The end pulley wheels of the Fellows Bros Ltd lifting gear above the hull outfit 20 (sonar type 174) trunk can be seen. A ventilation trunk is in the corner with the fan starter panel next to it against the starboard bulkhead.
